Jacob Stainer, the Austrian
luthier was the greatest non-Italian maker ever. A
lonely genius, he created his own models in his search
for a voice that would be forever his.
This replica evokes some of
the charm of the original with its uprite rounded
f-holes. The handsome one-piece back sports a flame
that descends from left to right. The tone is round,
mellow and flute-like, faithfully mirroring its model.
Especially recommended for Celtic playing, this fiddle
has some age and is a special value at $880. |
